How to use self-signed certificates with Windows Phone

Windows Phone is very strict with SSL certificates. Please use a purchased certificate, or follow these steps to use a self-signed certificate:

1. Make sure the connection's server address (e.g. myservername.com) is the same as in the certificate (CN name)
2. Make sure the certificate has a valid expiration date
3. Copy the certificate file (*.pem) from the server to your PC, then onto your phone
4. In Total Commander, tap on the certificate file to install it
